Silver,

Thanks for the tip, I will give it a shot.

My only issue is making sure my wife doesn't see me applying the Vaseline. She already thinks I love the car more than I love her!

Excellent point...Sometimes I forgot too...but it's not too bad because I usually wash the wheels last.

I thought it was a little nutty to clean the wheels "off the car" until I've tried to clean them on a regular basis. The task is made more difficult because the clearance on the front wheels, the space between the rim and the brakes, are narrower than the rear wheels. Clean wheels do make a difference in appearance.

Mavic,

Thanks for calling me "nutty", but welcome to the dark side. It is especially easy when you use a floor jack and only have to jack the car up and down twice.

I wouldn't use the Vaseline - it adds weight and may throw the wheel out of balance.....

Geeze, vaseline might make your wheels easier to clean next time, but I would think that it would also turn your wheels into a virtual dirt magnet.

Good point Dallas! Not sure about how much extra dirt it actually attracts though.

Meat- off balance? Extra weight? I suppose if it added an ounce you could just not super size your fries and save the weight that way.

I use my regular Meguiar's car shampoo to wash the wheels down with a chenile covered sponge (Pep Boys). Also Ph balanced wheel cleaner sprays do the trick as well (Meguiars Professional, P21S, and I believe Armor All). A good coat of your favorite wax and paint sealant on the wheels every six month or earlier. Then to make them sparkle even better after waxing, use some Ammonia free Windex to wipe them off. The Windex also works well on the exhaust tips as well after using Blue Coral's metal polish.
