Clear Bra by Bekaert (clearshield)
I was checking into installing a clear bra. See that most people here are using 3M so I was surprised to find the shop nearby recommending ClearShield by Bekaert.
Anyone using this?
The shop said the advantage to this over 3M was that it was tougher and would not scratch as easily. www.clearshield.com
Thanks!
When I do install the clear bra, I am thinking I will cover just the front bumber (below the hood seam) since I do not like the terminator line on the hood. Is this crazy?

covering the bumper only is better than nothing!
you could still get dings in the hood-
i dont have a clear bra (and my only hood ding is from when i dropped a bike on the front end- ouch!), but wanted to ask if you have seen our thread on them... my recollection is that it is a price reference thread, but also contains other info.

I'm only familiar with 3m sold under various names.
Clear bras have their ups and downs. On lighter cars they eventually leave a dirty outline where they stop. That drives me nuts. They ALL yellow over time (they warranty this but you'll have to pay labor to get it re-applied) I'd never put it on a light/white car.

I have been following some of the discussions here. So I have the impression that 3M is the most popular brand. I had not heard of clearshiedl before but did find several others using it in the archives. I am interested in why most are using 3M... is due to marketing or a specific reason.
Hopefully I can minimize the outline by only applying below the hood seam.
Regardless, Does the removal of a clear bra damage the paint?

I just had a clearbra installed this weekend. It is by Avery, and looks just like the 3M clearbra. The installer told me that 3M was one of the first companys to come out with the product, and many of the installers use 3M because they get a certain number of kits free when they push it. I believe that all brands are of equal quality, just some may exhibit a bit more orange peel than others and some are more flexible than others which would be good for installation.
Mine looks clear and you cannot tell it is even on the car, especially in direct sunlight. The line on my hood is barely noticeable, but I also have Silverstone color paint. I was told to apply Plexus to the clearbra because it is an anti-static plus polish and protectant all in one, so it will keep it looking great over time. My clearbra came with a lifetime warranty with labor included.
The installer told me that if I ever needed to remove the product, it would not damage paint, just heat it up with a blowdryer and peel it off. The only time I have heard of it damaging paint was when someone had their car repainted and it peeled a little bit of the repaint off, but original paint you should have no problem.
