Using the Colgan car bra for like 5 days and now there are 2 black marks running across the hood where the bra rests. I kinda got them off with windex and wash, but they aren't budging now. Any ideas before I call Colgan? Thx.

I had a bra on one of my previous cars - a Mitsu Eclipse GSX. Never again!!! At highway speeds, the bra would flutter at the top edge. After months with the bra on, a noticable scratched line ran across my hood where the top edge of the bra had been. My bra didn't have the tabs that stick up to make the airflow keep it against the hood, but even with those, I would worry that the material between the tabs would still flap and scratch the paint. My recommendation is to do without the bra.

try some wax.. and and mild abrasive cleaners...
basically it's eating into your paint.

BTW, look into clear bra like stongard. It's a 3M film that stays on the car. www.stongardgeorgia.com

Hrm. Ok, I'll try some abrasive cleaners. Any one in particular stick out? Dunno about waxing, never been too good @ it. Usually worth it to take it to a pro I wonder if I could make Colgan pay for repainting the hood.

I go braless and topless with my s. I had a bra for an accord and the heat cracked the clear-coat paint under it. You're lucky that you only have the line of scratches. Some buffing with a mild compound should clear things up. You might take it to a body shop and have it professionally done. Shouldn't cost more than a few dollars, then it is done right!

OMG thank u so much. Took it to a detail center and they used something (clear, like water, smelled bad) and it took it right off, I couldn't believe it. took off everything but the paint Eventually I'll repaint the hood cause of little nicks and scratches from washing. Thanks guys!

Have used the bra for over 6 months and no marks. The only time it comes off is on rainy days and when I wash the car. It has been great in protecting from stones, general debris, bugs, etc. I didn't get any flapping as I would tuck the tab on the side between the plastic fender liner and the fender itself.

What kind of bra do you have? I want one for long trips and days on the track.

Two things

1) When you put the bra on was the car clean. From what I remember from my old job (use to sell automotive bras) the car need to be clean because dirt between the bra and hood acts like sandpaper.

2) I think the stuff they used to get the marks off is call Wax and Grease Remover by 3M. I used this stuff to get out a lot of things and sold a lot of it to my customers

Hrm. I was using the Colgan Custom Bra (didn't know there were any other ones) And the car was clean, but I didn't let it sit in the sun for an hour before putting the cover on. I remember when i took it all off, there was a little collection of water near the bottom of the bar (away from the marks) so i think the water mixing w/bra and the unbelievable heat that followed in the next couple of days melted the bra on it. In any case, glad it came off. I'll ask em what they used. Hopefully they don't reply w/"House Brand" lol!! Thanks again guys. I'm going to use this bra again, but just for the 4-5 days of cross country traveling coming up in ONE WEEK!!! Look out California! Thanks again!
