Default Cost aside, does PermaPlate work?

Not taking into account the ridiculous cost, does something like Permaplate actually work? I am just wondering...

well I have it on my car, and some people said that it does work, but I would still do more work on it if I was you. I just hope it doesn't have any negative effects if I clean the leather with the cleaner and conditioner. I just recently got all my supplies, so I'll have to see the difference after I put it on.

I'm helping someone purchase a Benz, and its like expensive to do the PermaPlate, so i thought I'd ask. Personally I thought it would be unnecessary as I'd arrange for that car to be detailed periodically.
