DA Polisher
Hey guys,
Last weekend we got a break in the weather and I got hit up to detail a buddies car
Durning the middle of putting the final coat of wax on the car my DA polisher started shorting out. It would suddenly turn off and the only way I could get it going again was to jiggle the power cord where it connects to the back. I bought it 2 years ago so it's not to old. I was wondering if anyone else experienced this problem? I was thinking I should take it apart and see if there are any loose wires.

MattGrunt- Thanks for the reply!
True, I guess the question is if it's worth paying to get it fixed or since it was only a little over $100 to begin with just investing in the new XP. I have heard great reviews on the Flex XC. In your opinion is the Flex really that much better then the XP? The Youtube video's compare the Flex to the PC (old model) and the Flex blows it out of the water, but the new XP is supposed to be a little bit more powerful. I don't feel comfortable stepping into the rotary world just yet so a DA is what I'm aiming for. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Good questions Lu
The flex DA is a lot more powerful than the PC. Its just a small step down from a rotary in some ways while the smaller DA's (PC/G110/etc) are a much bigger step down.
The PC7424xp and G110xp are supposed to be very similar as they're powered by the same source, but are supposed to have small differences as well. My opinion would be to find whichever you can get for cheaper.
Unless you really want significantly more power and are willing to pay for it, or you plan on using this on multiple cars, I'd recommend staying with a PC type machine. Sure it takes a little longer, but the price difference makes it worth it in some ways. One thing I don't like about the flex DA is that there's only one backing plate for it.
I was talking to another pro detailer the other day and he mentioned he just picked up a PC7424XP at Walmart for like $90 - so that may be an option for you.
First thing first - take your broken PC to a shop that can fix it and get a quote from them. If they're going to charge 60+ dollars, then skip the repair and get something new. If it's only going to be 10-20 bucks, then I'd say stick with the machine you have now.
Sure the Flex DA is nice, and to anyone starting out that has a budget for it - I recommend it. BUT, of our machines (Flex rotary, 2 makita's, 2 PC's and the Flex DA), we use the Flex DA the least.
Hope this helps and let me know if I can provide any more advice to you
