Default "detailing the man"

many of you know our member autopia- also known as david bynon, founder of autopia.org

he is starting a new site for men, and women who love men (according to him)

his announcement follows and does a better job of explaining this than i could do:

<<<<<<<
Dear wanabe,

Ten years ago the idea for the Autopia web site was born. The concept was simple: provide a friendly, helpful community environment for men who enjoy detailing their cars. Since then, our community has been visited by millions and frequented by tens of thousands.

By and large, our community members are men (and a few ladies) between the ages of 30 and 55 who are stimulated by personal challenge and like to keep life exciting. If this describes you, then I have some exciting news.

Last week the Autopia community took the next big step in its evolution by registering the domain name www.detailingtheman.com and expanding its Detailing The Man discussion area into topic areas of interest to men (and women who love their men!). On 14 November, 2008, we will spin off Autopia

Hey Mike!

Thank you very much for posting my announcement. That was very kind of you.

For those of you wondering why I'm starting the new community, it's actually very simple. After ten years of reading posts by men who love detailing their car, and talking about cars in general, I've noticed some interesting trends. One of those trends is an affinity for "detail" in all areas of life.

Plus, in general, men don't have the same outlets as women for discussing things that matter. As men, we're expected to take it on the chin and suck it up. That's fine, but at the same time our society paints men as a bunch of boobs and gutless wonders. Think not? All you have to do is look at popular TV shows like "Everybody Loves Raymond". This is simply a matter of the pendulum in the women's movement swinging too far to the other side. So now, we men can either "Man Up!" and take charge again, or put up with the consequences.

The new Detailing The Man web site will be a place where men can "Man Up!" and learn to live an enjoyable life -- whatever you want that to be -- in our changing world.

Hope to see you all there!

David
