Default Help: Oil On The Soft Top

So there is a guy in my building who washes my car every morning,

yesterday there was a White stain on the soft top side right behind the passenger window,
so he tried to wash it with water but no success,

so today he applied MOTOR OIL on the top
the white stain is now Black, ofcourse darker than the rest of the top,

he wanted to apply oil on the rest of the Top, but i told him dont put anything untill i ask you guys

will this damage the soft top?? apply oil to the whole top??
what should i Do or Buy to to remove it & to protect it in the future? and from which site should i order it, (im from the middle east, so i should buy everything needed from one site to ship them all internationally),

waiting for your helpp guys,
thnx in advance,
Ali

He applied motor oil to your vinyl top???!!! Egads. Where the heck did he get that idea?

Meguiar's M39 is an excellent vinyl cleaner. You can order it online, but your local NAPA or PBE store might be able to order some for you. I have no idea if it will remove the oil stain, but that is what I would try first. I would certainly not apply motor oil to the rest of the top. For one thing, it would transform your top into a dust magnet.

Other possibilities are 303 Convertible Top Cleaner and Raggtopp Convertible Top Cleaner.

Goop hand cleaner emulsifys oil and allows it to be washed off with water. Try using the Goop with a small hand brush and then a good rinse. Can't imagine any negative consequences in doing this. Worst case you still have a black spot or maybe a white spot if the Goop worked. Read the lable on the Goop and follow all precautions that may apply negativley to Vinyl.

303 convertible top cleaner, followed by 303 areospace protectant would be some good advice.

Maybe an APC, diluted 10:1 with a toothbrush would work. Meguiars APC would be a good product.

make sure to wash the top after removing the stain, then let it dry and protect it with the 303 areospace.

Since everyone says vinyl cleaner, im guessing the S has a vinyl top. You could always try Dawn dish soap since that is the same thing they use to get grease out of the feathers/hair/fur of sea animals during an oil spill. Then you would have to apply a protectant after you were done.
