Hitting VTEC Mode with a Porter Cable
Just curious if and, if so, when anyone uses the 5,000 or 6,000 obits per minute (OPM) setting on their Porter Cable?
Are there any hazards or inherent badness is using the higher settings to remove really challenging finish defects?
What are your perferred OPM settings for the various finishing tasks that you can perform with your PC?

no problem using high speeds-
the speeds (numbers on the dial) that i usually use are something like (very approximate):
applying waxes/ synthetics 2-3
polishing/ swirl removal 5 (the worse the swirl or light scratch the higher the setting)
buffing out waxes/ synthetics 3-4
drying out pads 1 or 2
when i am doing experimental products i drop the speed at first until i am comfortable with them (except machine clay, which i tried at 1 and finally gave up after i kept losing the clay out of the machine!)
