I always shut with the fingers inside the handle. I have yet to have problems.

I do have to teach the wife though....or at least keep reminding her

I shut mine by the rubber strip as well. You know, its funny, mostly Berlina owners are posting because we all know how much of a B it is to keep the thing clean!

I have used the my knuckles since I can remember to close the doors and have not had a problem with any marks on the finish. This method is faster and easier than using the keyhole or the handle.

I use the knuckles too!
