Default How to remove slight oxidation from engine value cover?

Hi all, I'm trying to clean my engine valve cover (our red and gold engine). Where the words "honda vetc" have slight oxidation on the letters from neglect of previous ownership.

What's the best way to remove these oxidation? I tried wet sand with 200 grit n see some improvement. Wondering if you experts have other tips to polish this back to shiney letters.

Thx 4 help

I have refinished the raised areas with a belt sander with fine grit paper, the key is to keep the sander flat to the cover once it is removed from the engine. I flipped my sander upside down and slowly dragged the coil cover over the rotating belt, worked well.

The before...

And the after...

Heat cycles will cause oxidation again so I would find a way to protect the raw aluminum. Good luck.

Wow, that looks prefect, what grit u used? And what product u have to apply to keep the newly sanded area clean? Or just clean often b4 it gets a chance to oxidaize
