I Got Egged...
So I arrive at my girlfriends house around 10ish, and I leave around 12ish. During those two hours, someone got me with one egg. Upon closer inspection, nothing got on the top, thank God. However, my hood and driver side fender got it pretty bad. I just hosed it off and scrubbed it all off with a sponge. Tomorrow I plan to pressure wash the car, scrub it down completely, and clay/wax it. Do you think it will be alright, or do you think some of the egg may be left on the paint and damage it?
Also, a lot of people on this board like the PC, but I happen to have a Pep Boy's orbital buffer. What are the cons of using this buffer against a PC? I have clean terry cloth and microfiber buffer pads for it, and I'd like to use this rather then put out good money for a PC. Can anyone fill me in?
Thanks,
Matt.
I agree that without pictures it will be hard to judge the amount of damage. A few years ago some little sh!ts egged my sister's accord. She had the egg on the car for over 8 hours before she noticed it and cleaned it off (it happened at night and she didn't know until daylight). The egg etched the clear coat really badly. I would compare it to severely acidic bird droppings on a large surface area of the car.
I would not use the terry or microfiber pads on your car. Get some decent foam pads made specifically for car polishing. I think the terry and microfiber pads would easily produce swirls and holograms in your finish with a regular orbital buffer.
You'll also need two steps of polishes, one aggressive and one finishing polish if your clear is etched and you want to attempt to repair it.

matt- you would have been better off if it had hit the top...
in any case, do not not not pressure wash it- the damage that eggs can do is to crack the paint.
they leave a very strange "crater" looking mark-
if your paint has the original gloss to it, then there was no surface damage (you do not need to polish)- if it is dull then it will need polish.
the worst case is the cratering... you have to look very closely- if you have it, it looks like a bunch of pin pricks in your paint all in a tight circle area. hard to see on a silver car, so you have to look closely - sunlight or florescent lights can help.
you can try to minimize cratering, but will not be able to remove it. if you have it and want to minimize it, its again a polish solution.
and i would advise that you break down and buy the pc if you have to polish... you will need the best tools in this battle-
very close up pics would be helpful, but the first step is your close inspection of the area and report back-
fingers are crossed that you might get lucky and avoid the crater-

My car was egged as well about 1.5 years ago. Left all sorts of crater marks. My car wasn't only egged but also fire extingushered. Ill take some pics and show you some crater marks. I think the only way to repair these is it get them repainted.
