Default interior dash cleaning product

hey guys i just picked up my s2k about 2 weeks ago and the dealer had it detailed before i got it. the problem is they applied that shiny crap on the dash and i really dislike the look of it. is there any product out there that will wash that stuff off and give it that dull look of a new dash? i hope its not shiny forever...

I'd recommend a highly diluted APC [All Purpose Cleaner] like Simple Green, Castrol APC, Costco APC or Meguiar's APC (diluted 10:1 or greater), followed up by a good vinyl treatment like 303, Sonus Total Eclipse, Vinylex or even just Meguiar's Interior Quick Detailer.

Clean then "treat".

I've found Meguiars Interior Quick Detailer seems to remove the sheen from other protectants. It leaves only a "like new" look with little to no sheen. If you go with the Megs QID you can do it all with one product. An APC solution will also remove any existing protectant as well. However, you would then have to follow up with a new lower gloss protectant.

Really? I was going to suggest Meg's Quick Interior Detailer, but figured that really wouldn't do a good job of cutting/removing the greasy "protectant" they put on there to begin with.

Yeah, I use 303 on my dash every 1 to 2 months and the QID definitely changes the finish on the dash when I use it between those applications. I also used QID recently to clean ground in gook from the grain in a leather steering wheel. It practically melted off. It's also great for scuff marks on plastic especially when you combine it with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.

Well there you go. Pick up some Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer and be on your way to a proper sheen
