Default JEFFS Werkstatt

I have recently purchased and used for the first time the JEFFS Werkstatt series of polishes and sealants.

I am not sure if this product is a available globally but is made in Germany and the US

So a little about JEFFS first as they are a relatively new entrant.

(This from their website).

JEFFS Werkstatt was founded in 2005 with the mission to provide the highest quality automotive protectants and appearance products at any price, without the gimmicks and without the hype. Just solid products. We're a small company here, but we've partnered with some of the largest chemical companies in the world and some of the most respected auto detailing manufacturers to meet our goal. If we couldn't find it, we made it. If we couldn't make it, we found a specialist who could.

They have employed a system to follow which is pretty straight forward and they design kits to support the process. (of course all part can be purchased separately)

I know that some might not like the idea of 'kits' and in part, neither do I.

However I will make an exception every now and again to try something new.

So, to the system and the first stage -

Preping Clay ( I did not use this clay as I already have numerous other brands).

I understand it to be of fine grade cutting abilities and it comes in a large 200 gram size. This is made to JEFFS exact specifications in Japan.

The next stage is 'PRIME'

This is their name for polish - although strictly PRIME is neither a polish, a wax or a sealant but an all in one product. They work together in order to produce and maintain shine. PRIME will clean, UV protect and add gloss all in the one product.

From their website:

Prime represents over four decades of research and experience in paint protection chemistry. The formula builds on the exceptional protective qualities of the exclusive German polyethylene-acrylic nano-scale polymers by incorporating surface cleaners that prep the paint to create an exceptionally smooth surface to which the protective materials can bond. By using ultra-fine nano scale particles, Prime can achieve unparalleled surface density, improving resistance to environmental factors such as heat, acid, and ultraviolet damage as well as mechanical damage from surface contaminants that would otherwise mar or scratch.

As a second benefit, this microscopically smooth and level coating possesses superior optical characteristics. The ultra smooth surface ensures that low-angle incident light is brilliantly reflected for mirror-like images while the high refractive index of our acrylic polymers allows high-angle light to refract into the dense polymer coating for improved depth of color. And, the light transmittance of acrylic polymers exceeds that of optical glass, ensuring that Prime reveals the beauty of your paint with unobstructed clarity.

Werkstatt Prime is the closest an acrylic has ever come to the depth normally associated with high quality carnauba waxes yet offers the reflectance and clarity of shine characteristic of synthetics. And, in terms of longevity and protection, there is simply no comparison: Prime trumps any conventional wax with its elastic sealing layer that resists acid, UV, weather, and detergent degradation.

How I used it!

I followed the directions on the bottle:

DIRECTIONS

1. PREPARE: Surface should be clean and preferably cool.

2. APPLY: By hand or random orbital polisher, gently rub into surface with quality foam or microfiber pad. For best results, work Prime into the surface until it just begins to dry.

3. WAIT: Allow surface to cure to a haze for 30 minutes.

4. REMOVE: Wipe off residue with quality microfiber towel

I found the product easy to apply and it removed with ease after 30 - 40 minutes. this is a very similar idea/process to the CARLACK or KLASSE twins.

I have used the later (but never the former) and the SG is well known to be difficult to remove if not done very carefully. JEFFS was a breeze and certainly less finicky. I simply did the swipe test to ensure it had completely hazed and cured and then removed with my Pakshak MF's

One thing that I noticed straight away under the ceiling bulb in my garage was that this product certainly emphasized the metallic fleck or pearl effect in my Royal Navy Blue Pearl S2000. This colour is a nice dark blue but in certain lights has a very subtle but nice flip to the paint which is more purple. I noticed that JEFFS made this much more pronounced. I can only assume that on a straight forward metallic this would also draw out the metallic flakes in the colour.

The next stage of the process is to apply the sealant.

I used ACRYLIC JETT (however there is a carnauba version also).

This is a Pure ACRYLIC polymer paint sealant creates an exceptional wet gloss coating.

from their website:

The DURABLE acrylic film has unmatched longevity, protects with ultraviolet filtering agents to prevent premature aging, and resists acid rain, oxidation, UV damage, pollutants, and detergents for months.

This has a trigger action and is very easy to apply. Using the approach 'less is more' seemed to work well.

This product can be layered. It adds to; and extends the PRIME basis applied beforehand.

This product further enhances the fleck/ flip of the pearl paint.

The Directions on the bottle: (and I followed these in my application)

Directions:

1. PREPARE: Surface should be cool, clean, and well prepped.

2. APPLY: By hand with a quality microfiber or foam pad, spread a thin coat onto the surface. (Because Jett contains only transparent protective ingredients, you do not need to apply a visually thick coat. Thinner is better.)

3. WAIT: Allow surface to dry to a haze. (This does not take long. Typically, after applying to one body panel, the product should be buffed off before moving to the next panel.)

4. REMOVE: Buff off residue with quality microfiber towel.

I applied two layers leaving about 1 hour between applications. (This 1 hour was arbitrary on my part).

The Werkstatt system also contains GLOS (spelt GLOS and not GLOSS)

This is a 50/50 mix of their car wash (called WASH) and the sealant ACRYLIC JETT (There is a substitute/ similar product if you applied the carnauba version of JETT).

This is what their website says about it

Equal parts car wash and spray sealant, JEFFS Acrylic Glos allows light surface residue to be wiped away without scratching while exclusive polymers rejuvenate the protection of Acrylic Jett.

Formulated in the Werkstatt to be fast, streak free, and safe on all non-porous surfaces, Acrylic Glos indefinately extends the brilliant wet gloss of Jett for a freshly detailed look without the work.

And the directions for application:

Directions:

1. PREPARE: Shake well. Surface should preferably be cool.

2. SPRAY a light coat of Glos onto the vehicle. Less is more.

3. SPREAD over a small area with a plush microfiber towel.

4. WIPE DRY using light pressure until all Glos has flashed off and the paint is clear and haze free. Flip to the dry side of the towel on the final pass for perfect results.

I did not use this product as I believe it is only necessary as a top up to the JETT application.

Overall

I loved this system - I will definitely use it again. The ease of application and result were pretty exceptional. I will keep an eye out for longevity as time passes.

I am usually sceptical about kits but this seems to be a (relatively) easy one to follow (you have to decide if you want the Acyrilic or the carnuaba versions of both JETT and GLOS but other than that it is a simple process).

I will continue to explore a little more with this product line and might even try their auto bathe/ wash product too.

So, pictures???

Well, I don't have any just yet - the camera batteries died and then the weather turned against me and the S got a few rain showers on it - seemed to bead nicely though . I will re - wash the car and the take some pics - hopefully with a little better weather.

Thanks for reading

Rob

Definitely a solid system that produces results.

It is rumored that JW is actually made by the same folks that brought Klasse to the market; to an extent, it is like a re-vamped Klasse line that's easier to use, and produces better results!

Durability on AJ has been exceptional for other pro's on autopia, and my own experience. (~5 months)

Great product, shame it doesn't come in larger sizes!

Thanks Wannabe for the www address I should have added it.

Definitely related to CARLACK. I came across this in the legal section when I was searching for info.

Carnauba over synthetics? Is that somewhere on their website?

They actually have an entire line for both carnauba, and synthetic.

The lines:

Carnauba
Prime: Carnauba
Carnauba Jett
Carnauba Glos

Synthetic
Prime: Acrylic
Acrylic Jett (Trigger)
Acrylic Glos

Acrylic Jett Trigger is actually an EVEN easier version of Acrylic Jett, which can be wipe-on-wipe-off'ed-- this saves a lot of time when you do this over an unbuffed layer of Prime.

Overall, JW's line is quite versatile, and some have even mixed their Acrylic Jett Trigger with Optimum's spray wax, just to give it an extra bit of umph!

Carnauba's have always been used over a synthetic sealant. Just not the other way around. (And with all the Zaino freaks, they don't want anything else but synthetic, and Zaino layered!)

I'm sure the difference in durability between the carnauba and acrylic lines isn't much in the first place!
