Masking tape
When I get my PC and start my first polish, what sort of masking tape can I use? I'd like to get an area masked off for before vs after, so I can guage my progress visually, and also photo it.
thanks,
Dave

You want to use painter's tape. You can buy it at Home Depot, Lowe's, hardware stores, actually pretty much anywhere. Painter's tape does not leave adhesive residue behind and is much easier to remove.
If you want to do a test spot like this . . .
You don't cover the whole area with tape. You just tape down a towel to the area next to where you'll be buffing. This way no splatter or anything gets on your "before" section.

blue tape works well, but make sure you press down on it hard. since the adhesive isnt that strong, if you leave a spot thats not stuck on real well, you might peel it off when you buff.

LOL, Mark, this is for the Black Cherry Miata that I bought Karen. Either color tape is gonna look funny. But no way I'm using the PC on MY car first.
And MikeyC - thanks, yes, that is exactly the sort of pic I want to do.

Here are a few common mistakes I find first time users typically make . . .
-moving the machine too fast
-not running the machine at a high enough speed (use #5)
-polishing too large of an area at once
Do some reading on proper technique before you get started and watch a video like say the ones on this page . . .
