Default Nasty Windshield

So whenever it rains or is foggy or humid in the mornings my windshield just looks disgusting, like all blotchy and foggy. Im sure theres all kinds of chemicals and waxes all over it from the previous owner, is there any way i can strip it down to bare glass and then apply a fresh coat of rain-x?

I was going to try something similar to fingernail polish remover, i figure that should take the wax off but i figured id consult the elders first.

thanks

I would think any glass cleaner should clean it, I like stoners invisible glass, just make sure you clean the inside as well. I use microfiber towels, newspaper works great as well.

You can polish your windshield with a machine and pad and either a dedicated glass polish or i use my paint polishes. Even the best cleaner won't work sometimes.

I'd lose the rain-x and go to PPG aquapel.

Our Accord just about to go into the intersection. As soon as you get moving you don't need your wipers.

The film, is it on the interior or exterior glass? Armorall is bad about creating a oily film on interior glass surfaces. Any good glass cleaner should work, the old stand-by (vinegar and water) will remove the really stubborn oily messes.

i hear good things about aquapel, but while i still have rain-x i'm sticking with it. only difference i hear is that some folks say aquapel lasts longer. either way u'll get the same results with rain-x as shown in the pic and video, just maybe for not as long.
gl!

I never got rainx to last more than a few weeks. Aquapel makes it about 6 months for me.

See i applied rain-x once already and it seemed to not affect it, the rain just smears accross the windshield and leaves a blotchy look. And here in Missouri its super humid at night and while driving the inside just fogs up like crazy...but where i wipe with my finger the fog never comes back. If i turn on the heat it helps but it gets hot in the car (common sense) but if i turn on the AC then fog builds on the outside...i seriously had to pull over and dry off the inside and outside just so i could see where i was going.
