Need Help. Tree Sap, and Tar dropping like craze
I've just moved to this new Apt complex. Great area. quiet and just very nice. Surrounding by trees and first, i thought my S will be under shade all the time.
And yes, All the parking spots are under shade. but there is this huge problem.
I cant tell what trees they are. but they sort of look like pine trees. And They are dropping tar and Sap like crazy.
Tar is brownish color. once is dropped on the car. it looks like dry blood. They are all over my hood and fender. I've also had sap dropped on my soft-top. Now my soft-top has 2 light gray spots because of it. I cant remove the Sap spot completely on the soft top.
every car wash. i have to spend almost an hour just to remove those tree dropping with the bug and tar remover. I feel like im leaving swirl to the paint because of the rubbing.
I really need advise on dealing this problem. I dont want to buy a car cover. and there are really no spots available that's not near the trees.
and, I really need help on getting those light sap gray spot of the soft top.
any advise is welcome. Thanks

yup- only choices are sap or no sap
cover is the only no sap choice- and then you gotta really messy cover!
the sap choice is a real pia
my choice would be to park a long way in a rented garage and still cover the car!!

How can I clean the Sap remaining of the soft top? they are turning light gray now.
hot water can loosen sap sometimes- enough to get it off
i think that autoglym's bug and tar remover is safe on plastic and should be on vinyl- but would first go with the hot water and get as much off that way.
others might have ideas. many of the products that work on sap on paint can damage our vinyl tops, so you gotta be careful (try anything on a small area first before going for the whole thing).
you will want to wash and rewax the car afterwards, cause anything you use on the top will run onto the paint and remove the wax- and of course, use a good vinyl protectant on your top once its clean
