No need to wait. Do it whenever you feel like it. Unless you had the dealer put on some sort of "permanent shine", it's probably just been buffed up with a spray on detailer.
Before you commit to "waxing" it, you should investigate what you really want to do. Do you really want to put wax on it or do you want to put a synthetic "non-wax" product on it.
Popular words here are: Maquiar's, Zymol, Zaino, Mothers. Do a search and you'll find lots of stuff on this subject. Many here go with Zaino.

Congratulations!

What color didja get? The first wash and wax is always special! Gotta start off on the right foot, so if I were you, I would clay the car first. Clay will get all those minute dust particles that may have embedded on the surface during transit: ship, rail truck, etc...

Take your time with it.

I use Meguiars Gold Class liquid wax, but as xviper sez, there are others...

( I hear those Zaino footsteps nearby)

i suggest calling the dealer to find out what they put on... some products need a base to bind them to the car, and if there is something else already on the car it might have to be removed first. zaino is an example of this- the z1 binds the z2 to the car, so it is best to remove other products before using the zaino...
if they used a carnuba, you might just put more carnuba over what they have on. if a synthetic, you might use the same synthetic that they used...
let us know what they used and we can give you our opinions as to what your next step would be- no shortage of opinions here!!
