ok.........let me get this straight about zaino before buying it...
i have a 02 suzuka blue s2k
What should I buy from zaino?
Z1 + Z2
Z1 + Z5
Z1 + Z2,Z5
After all this is done, do I still need to wax the car? I'm a lil confused. Can someone explain to me a lil better? I've read the Zaino FAQ already 2

i would stay away from z1 as zfx is the cure accelerant which is more notably used for drying..
a coat of z5 to "fill in" any minor swirls..
a coat of z2 to "add shine"
no need to "wax the car" as you've done that already..

I have an 02 Suzuka blue too. I Live in Louisiana.
Before buying Zaino have you tried anything else?
I said it before and I'll say it again. Zaino is a great product. Unfortunately for me, it is more difficult than it is worth to apply / remove in a hot humid climate like ours? I used zaino for over a year before giving up on it. The thing that pushed me away is I started a detail late in the day and had zaino applied by 4:00. I ended up leaving it over night beforeI could remove it.
Currently I use AIO topped wih P21s or s100. Trust me you'll never tell the difference on the suzuzka blue.

o.k.- the contrarian point of view:
keep it simple in the beginning...
i would go z1 and z2 and thats it!!!
buy the best car shampoo you can find (for your second washing), and i agree 100% with petraidm- if you can handle another product, make it p21s.
so, wash the car (first time only with dawn), after you dry it, z1, then z2. detail the insides and engine compartment as well as the nooks and crannies. then remove the z2, buff that baby and slap on some p21s- slap it on and immediately remove it.
after you are comfortable with the process... then move on to more "advanced" steps.
(clay and polish)- the disadvantage of my idea is that you will have to redo the zaino when you clay and polish. but i think you are better off with the simple method (which can last you as long as you want- actually until you become one of us!).

bass-
z2 takes longer to cure than z1...
i apply z1 and immediately apply z2 (by the time you have applied the z1 to the entire car, the area you began with should be hazed over, which is all you really need).
z2 needs to cure- but an hour or so will do it (yup, i prefer to leave it a bit longer, but have done it in less time), as long as you arent trying to apply in cold temps.
i agree that more z2 is deeper, but thats why i throw the p21s over it (and more z2 coats can be added at the next wash, as you know).
------
and yes, you know that i dont do the basic drill!
but the basic drill will give a great shine that will last for a few months for a newbee. i have seen too many guys burn out from the entire process- better to do the basics and have a nice shine than to give up and go the carwash route!

I guess I'd still recommend ZFX over Z1, esp given your climate and petraidm's experience in the humid south. But I completely agree with wanabe. Go for simplicity and see how it looks/works for you.
