Parking outside?
Anyone here live in hotter/more humid areas and park their S outside? I understand that the S should be parked inside, but the gf's near-future car will be the garage queen (and there is only space for one).
I am heavily considering purchasing a S, but I am just worried about how does Honda paint hold up. My 93 si faded pretty severely compared to my current ride, an A4. The A4's paint holds up very well, a quick wash/wax makes it look new, and the interior also does not seen to mind the outdoors abuse.
So if any of you have your S parked outside in North Carolina-like climate, please share with me your experience. Best if you have done it for a while already, I am looking to purchase a MY00 or 01... yes, I know they do not have a lot of things the 02+ have, but I am looking at the 15-16k range and there is not much of a choice.
Great bunch here, BTW... most classy of car forums I have been seen, on par with the Lexus forums.

first - thanks for the kind remarks...
its the group of folks who live here who make it a great place!
the honda cover is great for indoors or in weather where rain is not an issue (such as where i live)- i have two of them!
but for rain, or real weather you need something that gives more wet protection-
i assume that weather is an issue?

Yes, weather will be a big issue. For my location, I expect rain year around, with scorching sun/humidity from May-November, and a couple of snow/ice storms a year. And the S, if I purchase one, will have to sit through all that.
Another question I have is that a S I am looking at has been re-painted (whole car) due to an encounter with a light pole. The owner says the new paint is OEM quality (and I have no reason to doubt him), but is that really possible for a body/paint shop to do?

I live in NC, but I park in the garage, so I'm not sure how much help I can be.
I don't know about Honda paint vs. other manufacturers, but on the S (and on convertibles in general) I would be worried about how the black vinyl top and rubber seals would hold up.
But you can just get a good weatherproof cover and you should be good to go.
Oh, and GO HEELS.

Depends on how much he is charging you for the S. No second paint job will ever be OEM quality because they are not able to bake the car at the temperature they do originally from the factory in order to cure the paint. I would find out where the paint job was done and do some investigating as to what kind of warranty the body shop has and if it is transferrable. Also, paint does not bind well to plastic--so a second paint job on the bumpers would be a huge question in my mind. Definately demand a big discount if you plan on buying the car--otherwise, I would probably buy a S that has the original paint on it and pay the extra cash. That way there is no question as to the quality of the paint job. Definately make sure that there was no serious damage to the car as a result of the accident beyond cosmetics.
I park my car outside--I don't have the luxury of a garage as of yet. So far, I keep my car in pretty good shape and havent had any problems. Make sure you put top protectant such as ragg top or 303 and keep your paint waxed.
Btw, I went to State...Go Pack! Can't wait for State to get revenge in Basketball and Football next year.
