Stone Chips. Prep while keeping the car protected!
I don't usually bother too much but there are a few that just look too bad to ignore.
But I'm not difficult I grant you. Here's how I see it ...
I wash and wax to protect the car from the nasties with Z (let's not start which is best, which is not)! This gives the panels the best protection against Fire and the elements. Now I want to place tiny spots of paint on and fill the gaps that are now full of this protectant?
Should I untreat the chips or just get on with it?
Seams one defeats the other?
Don't laugh, too loud you can see what I mean.

I know what you mean, will the Z**** stop the paint from bonding properly. I would wash the area with fairy liquid and leave to dry for a while before touching up, though I don't know if it would make a difference TBH.

Get out more!
I shouldn't worry about them. One of my own personal hates is people using touch-up paints on cars. It ALWAYS looks terrible. Better a wee chip than an 'unprofessional' looking botch. IMHO.
I found that by leaving ample room infront of my car while driving has reduced the chance of stonechips almost to zero.

On a slightly different track:
Some arse has deceided to wipe their tyres (and paint) across the front of the wheel arch! It's on the plastic bumper only though.
What is going to be the best thing to clean it without causing any more damage and scratches?
