PC question
all right Im planning on buying a porter cable, before I do so,few quick questions. How noob friendly are they? and Do u have to blue tape anything? edges? moldings? head or tail lights? I want to learn and do it right without messing anything up
Noobie Friendly?: Extremely. I bought one without knowing how to use it; it was a breeze, just post up in here when you order ... tell us about your car, its color, how bad the swirls are, oxidation, RIDs, haze, etc.
Taping: Yes, everything you mentioned. Tape up all rubber and vinal to prevent it from drying out, tape emblems, lights and other.
Shoot some more questions if you got em!

my s2k is NFR,the swirls are not extremely bad but I noticed them and its an eye sore to me,there isnt really any oxidation except on mirrors,some light scratches though. and I got one more question how come everytime I detail my car and spend hours doing it,It freaking rains........>:{
Phil from DD or Wanabe might want to chime in here to make sure I am getting it all right, but it sounds like you are just like me; barely any swirls, but you want them gone!
For a polish, I would reccomend Menzerna 106FA.
http://www.detailersdomain.com/index.asp?P...PROD&ProdID=187
This will have the light cutting power needed to remove those swirls, worked great for my car.
I would apply the 106FA with a Lake County CSS Orange pad.
http://www.detailersdomain.com/index.asp?P...PROD&ProdID=271
This pad has a light cut to it, so I will help compliment the polish to remove the swirls.
I would also buy some Lake County White (to refine the polish) and Blue (good pad to apply waxes) pads.
EDIT: And DetailersDomain has a 10% off code for us s2ki guys!

good info above guys...
i would just add that you should do plenty of reading and youtube watching on polishing before you begin. check out our how to thread- its all there.
my most poplular newbee suggestion is to post up in your local forum on this board that you will supply refreshments (and products if you want) if someone will show you how to use the machine.
final comment- the polish suggested above- 106fa- is a good suggestion for a newbee with very light swirls. it is a fairly easy to use product and really works great with light swirls.

don't forget to pick up some halogen lights. you can usually pick up some 1000w craftsman at sears for cheap. you may think you see all your swirls under the sun, but shine some halogens on your paint and you will see how much more work you have to do.
also, being that your car is an '00, unless the paint has been corrected before, i am almost certain you'll need to step up to an abrasive polish with light-med cut on an orange pad.
