try using a toothbrush with some car wash soap. then top it off with some 303.

Try cleaning and then protecting it first. It is possible that they burned the trim with a buffer though. Those things make a lot of heat and this is why trim should be taped off when using a rotary buffer. They can burn trim in a blink.
