Default Poorboy's Residue

Anybody here had issues with Poorboy's SSR2.5 leaving behind a "pitting" type residue on your car's finish? It almost looks like minor rock chips. I haven't tried claying it off yet, but thought that might do the trick.

I have used 2.5 for a while and never had that issue. From your description, it sounds like dust that is getting left behind and is then adhering to your finish. What I would do to be sure that all of the dust is removed is, after you polish, take a QD (Spray & Wipe, Spray & Gloss, whatever you use) and wipe down the car to get ALL of the dust off. Another option is to re-wash but that can be a bit more time consuming.

If you don't think what you are getting is from polishing dust settling, describe it some more and I will take a crack at it.

You're probably right. I did notice a whole lot of dusting when I was polishing and I wiped the area down, but only with a MF towel. Thanx for the input. You think clay would get it off, or maybe polishing/waxing again.

While clay would work in almost any situation with the dust, I would first try a good soapy wash and see if that gets it. If it has baked in, it may take the clay.

Another issue, not so much on the S but on a lot of other cars, is to be careful with the dust on black plastic trim and cowels - especially textured plastic. If it sits too long it can be a real pain to scrub off. When doing a full polish, I typically mask the trim. It takes a long time but then again, so does a good, full polish.

With some car's I do i notice fine little pitting in the clear coat but they come to me that way. I've seen a hood of an S2000 like that and my fender has a little area too.

Apparently some guys have a problem with 2.5 over on Autopia.

Could be product spatter from the pad onto finished areas of the paint. It ends up looking like small flecks of <insert color of polish here>. It can be cleaned up with a wash or QD as folks have already suggested.

Maybe try using less product as well.

That kinda defeats polishing in the first place

I've used SSR2.5 in the past. It's a nice polish, but it dusts quite a bit IME.

I think what you're experiencing is most likely dried on polish spots. Try wiping them off with some QD and if that doesn't work try clay.

If it is actually pitting then it was likely there before you polished. I've polished cars in the past and once the paint is swirl free other imperfections become more noticeable.
