Default Porter cable

Hey wash & wax pros. Since I have a berlina, I have decided that it is necessary that I buy a porter cable, but I don't know what different pads to buy for it. If there's a good kit that I can buy, just point me in the right direction.

Thanks for your help,
Bill

i suggest that you start out simple...
if you dont need to polish yet, then you just need pads to apply and remove.

for application with no cutting, a grey (or black) pad is best. if you are using a cleaner type finish, then you might use a white pad.

for removal, i like to use a lambswool pad (for cushioning) with a microfiber bonnet over it... get a few mf bonnets

Sonus Pad Kit
I have tried Meguiars and Lake county pads. These Sonus pads are much nicer. The velcro stays on the pads and doesn't pull off. Plus they seem more stiff.

I use nothing but Lake Country pads from eshine.ca

be sure to even out the areas on your hood and trunk.. Takes me a long time doing "dark cars" because of the "streaks" left behind and the uneveness of whatever is applied, really appears on berlina.. So set yourself some hours to get it done right..

Orange for compounding
white for pre sealant
grey/black for sealant

I "Used to use" Lake county pads. I have 2 of each, Orange, Black and white.
I haven't touch them since I bought the Sonus pads!!!

The pads are "More dense", better made(backing plate velcro HAS NOT LOOSENED ONE BIT), they just "feel" better using them. They also seem to clean up better.

I like the Sonus pads as well. The green pad is perfect with DACP and the black is a nice finish pad. I don't know if all of the Sonus pads are concave but some people don't like those as they think they have to apply too much pressure to flatten out the pad. I don't have that problem as the weight of the PC seems to be enough to flatten it out for me. The first generation Sonus pads weren't that great but the last ones I got a month or two ago seem to have resolved the gen1 issues.

If you like long lasting mild pads the ones from Griot's are hard to beat. I have a couple of those that are three years old and still look and feel new.
Almost all pads are made by Lake Country but they make them to different specs for different vendors.
