Default Porter Cable

I know you guys like the Porter Cable for detailing the s2k?
Anyone not like the Porter Cable? or Have you burned your paint with it?
I checked at Lowe's and the guy looked at me like I was from the moon. Do they carry it or not?

lowes should have it, but they might call it a sander...
i think it would be fairly difficult to burn the paint with an orbital- (you would have to use a high speed and hold the machine in one spot for quite awhile i would guess). it is much easier to burn paint with the non-orbitals.
i suggest using low speeds with the porter cable (i still usually use the lowest for applying and always for removal).
professionals often use non-orbitals on high speeds to "soften" the paint when applying that old fashioned stuff called "wax"!!
...i think that this is done on older non-clear coat cars.

Lowe's has it. The model number is 7336SP, for Sander Polisher. It's $109, I think. The white polishing pad is okay, but check out http://www.properautocare.com for the good pads.

The PC is great, one of the best purchases I've made in a while. I think I'd burn out the bearings in the PC before I burned the paint if I pressed too hard.
