Default Portercable 7424 vs 7336

It seems like the Portercable 7336 can be found a bit cheaper than a 7424. What are the differences? What else do I need to buy for a 7336 to make it function just like a 7424?

The counter weight is different, but that's the only difference between the two. IIRC the 7336 is counterweighted for a 6inch pad and the 7424 is counterweighted for a 5inch pad. Maybe somebody else can back me up on this.

yup- backing up your backing plate comments, 90drvtec!!
the 7336 is counterweighted for the 6" pad.
not a big difference except there's a little more vibration with a 5" counterweight when using a 6" pad on a high (5-6) setting.

Shucks, looks like I should have gotten the 7336 then. If thats the case, how come the 7424 is sold more frequently as a detailing machine?

I actually have a 7336, they are exactly the same...

I believe because the 7424 comes with a foam pad? I did however also get a foam pad with my 7336, along with the sanding pad.

Imagine if I got the two confused and use the sanding pad!

Yup! The only difference is the size of the counterweight. Functionally, they are exactly the same machine.
