PC 7424 vs. 7336SP
Does anyone know the difference between the PC 7424 and the 7336SP? They call the 7336 a sander and the 7424 a polisher, but the 7336 does come with a polishing pad. Looking at the specs side by side at the PC site I can't see any difference....Same motor, action, speed, spindle. The 7424 does look like it fits in your hand a little better, which would seem important.
Maybe I'm being stupid, but lowe's has the 7336 for $109, as good a price as Ive seen, and I have a gift card burning a hole in my pocket.

7336 comes with a better counter weight
after you become proficient you will see that the PC will be replaced with the Rotary as will be the case in my situation next season. I have a 7424 and do quite a few cars per month , have gone from Lake country to Sonus Pads (of which i prefer the sonus ones) and don't find swirl removal as good with a dual action orbital polisher. You may find this as well or may not. But as for me, i get cars dropped off to me that are badly swirled, with scratches and the porter cable fills in and gently removes.. I have outgrown it per se.. i'm only using it for applying LSP's and pre polishes.. for proper swirl removal i'll be going towards a rotary.
So if you do get nuts like me, and want an optimum set up with optimal results, i think a Rotary for swirl removal , proper pads 7" and then a porter cable to apply pre polish and polish..
feel free to PM me if you need further help..
and not to worry, both models DO NOT burn paint unless reallly really used inappropriately... Random Orbital's are fairly easy to use ..

They're the same unit. The 7336 does come packaged with a better counterweight, along with a sanding backing plate (because they call it a sander). The polishing pad that comes with either isn't all that great, and I wouldn't use it on my S. I have a 7336 that I got from Lowes... best price I've seen for one, plus I had a 10% off coupon.
No matter which one you choose find a good set of pads and a velcro backing plate to go with it.
