Protecting the wheels
After you've cleaned the wheels is it advisable to put a coat of wax on them? If so should it be the same wax used on the car (McGuires Gold Class) or is something special required?
The wheels are painted so a coat of wax or polish like Zaino would probably help them stay "fresh". I used to wax my wheels on other cars. I don't on the S mainly because after about 3 summers, they don't look any worse for wear.
Rob, treat your wheels just like you do the hood or a fender and you'll be fine. I usually tend to wax them a bit more often than I do the rest of the car. This way, I just wash the brake dust off with no trouble.

Thanks for the answers.
My son Adam and I are going to paint our calipers silver (to match the body) next week. We ordered the G2 kit. Not so much for them to be visable, but rather to prevent them from rusting. I hate seeing rusty calipers. When we have the wheels off to paint the calipers we will wash them and either wax or seal them.
Thanks for the advice.

any wax or synthetic is a good idea on the wheels... i have to admit - i dont zaino mine very often, probably once a year.
my calipers are painted silver too- they look much better painted than not! a very worthwhile project.
now my rotors need to be replaced (they really look rusty since the calipers have been painted)!

Carnuba will melt off the wheels in very short time.
A product called WheelWax is formulated to remain on the wheel even after high temp braking. A synthetic wax/polish would be my second suggestion if you can't find WheelWax.
