Default Stain / weird mark on paint, please help!

The hardtop has a terrible stain. About 1.5" long * 0.5" Looks kind of like goo or some kind of paint-like thing that dripped on there. I tried using soap and water, and then Dawn, as someone recommended, but it didn't do anything. How can I get this off?

Is goo gone safe? Any recommended products & methods?

FYI, it's the Silver color, and it's on the hardtop. I don't know if the hardtop is metal or plastic, or if it even matters.

Sorry for the poor image quality, it's difficult to take a good picture of this mark.

goo gone is a citrus based cleaner and is fine for your painted areas (dont get it on other surfaces, especially decals or badges)...
other solutions might be clay
or
polish

be sure to follow with a rewax of the area cause you will be removing all protection when you clean this

I used a light polish and this didn't work. Oh no! What can I do now?

It's really on there - almost like paint but I don't think it's paint. Please help!

if you really worked the polish (not just rubbed it on and wiped it off) then you do need another solution...

clay should get it too, but if polish didnt work clay might not either.
next step is a more aggressive polish- fine cut is next.

report back after you really work the area with a fine cut!

if it's something gooey...you should get some wax and grease from a paint shop then rub it out. After you wax and grease you have to follow it up with glass cleaner so it doesn't damage your paint. AND Then you wax it or if there's stratches...use rubbing compound, and then wax.

wax and grease is also "tar remover" Just lemme know if it works, where are you located? I'm a detailer and that's what we use to get off excess paint or tar or stratches.
