Default The Switch

I made the jump to Zaino this weekend. I was previously using Zymol as I have had good success with it. The difference in my opinion is night & day! Zaino is amazing! Even though the beginning process (wash, clay bar, wash, ZFX, buff, Z6...etc...) was time consuming it is well worth it! No white residue or worrying about getting it on the rubber trim pieces. Application & buffing were a piece of cake compared to waxing. I don't think I will ever go back. I am extremely impressed with the Zaino line of products & will continue to use them.

With that being said I have a couple questions. When using Zaino on the car has anybody used the products on the headlights or rear lens? How about the black coating on the frame of the windshield? How about your rims? I didn't try any of this as I am unaware the results. Can anybody give me some tips on getting into the little crevices in the S2000 logo? I am also under the impression that I can wash the car w/ the Zaino wash & then reapply the ZFX/Z6 after washing. Is this correct? What would be the average time in reapplying? Once a week? Once a month?

Sorry if these questions are duplicates. I searched the Wash & Wax forum, but didn't not come across answers.
Thanks!

Excellent! Thanks for the tips wanabe! I was a little nervous trying the Zaino on the headlights & taillights without knowing if it had been tried and tested.

When you use Zaino on your rims, do you have a seperate claybar for that so you don't mix the paint contaminates & rim contaminates?
I was reading another post where you were talking about using wax over Zaino. I guess I am a little confused because I thought Zaino was synthetic wax/polish that did not need to be used with wax? What would be the benefit of putting a layer of Zymol over my finished Zaino as you suggested?

Thanks for all the help & suggestions!

Ubetit,
It says in the Zaino instructions to use Z6 (Ultra Clean Gloss Enhancer Spray) with the ZFX application (http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/mercha...ID&Store_Code=Z). After you apply ZFX and buff it out you are suppose to spray the car over with Z6. They say "Z-6 will help buff away any remaining residue and enhances the brightness of the finish. Using Z-6, the next coat of Zaino Show Car Polish will apply even easier." Those are the instructions I followed. I also didn't apply the Z5 since I don't have it in my kit nor to I have swirls (knock on wood).

I appreciate the tips on how often to apply. I'm sure it will come down to how much time I'm left with after washing! ;-)
Thanks,
-j

Maybe I am misunderstanding you but it appears that you are using ZFX directly.

ZFX is an additive that is mixed into the Z2 or Z5 polish. You add 4-5 drops of ZFX to each ounce of Z2 or Z5. You do not apply it by itself on the paint.

After you let the Z2 or Z5 polish with the ZFX additive cure, you remove it. At that time you can use the Z6 spray.

I would definitely use a separate claybar for the rims. I usually use my claybar about 3~4 times for my car and then use it for things like my rims and license plate before I throw it away. I've seen what comes off my rims sometimes and I shudder to think what it would do to the paint if mixed in with the claybar.
