touch up question
Hello, I have a 2003 Silverstone - It is in the best shape it could be without bringing in to the house every night and tucking it in to bed. Someone at a bar-b--q grill scratched off with their Hummer and a couple of 3 inch rocks landed on the hood - a nice scratch and small dent. So I take it to the body shop and asked them to make fix it. I go to get it today and I could not examine for perfection because they had not rinsed it of dust, etc (because I told them if they did not use microcloth with best care - then don't do the usual post fix detail). But I found an area of light sandpaper scratch. They tried to buff it out there but quickly leraned it was undereneath the new clear coat.
OK, then the guy starts rambling about blend colors and why it happened to his boss and I came to realize that they work on the scratch area and the small dent area but did not paint the whole hood. I was sort of surprised - I would have thought that they needed to repaint the whole hood to make a perfect job. So that is what I am asking - what is the correct way to fix a couple of small areas on the hood. They were charging 400'ish for the fix to begin with - and I don't know what is reasonable. I used these guys for my envoy and have asked them several times how they do with cats that people care more about and I felt good about them for this.
Any Advise or useful comment on what i should have ask them for to begin with and that if their process would work if they had been more careful before clear would be appreciated.
Thank you

weird- for $400 i would have thought that they would have done the whole hood too...
most body shops do entire panels- very strange for a body shop to do "touch-up" imo.
they shoulda sanded, painted, and cleared the hood-

Well, the second go around where they missed a spot that needed finer sandpaper the first time - is fixed - and I am satisified with the job albiet they spot fixed it without painting the whole hood. There is a luster now on the hood which is more prestine than the rest of my car - I have used porter cable buffer to wax my car since I got it new but only wax - I wonder what application I can apply to bring out the original luster for the whole S. Should I go with the yellow pad, or use a different liquid or what? Otherwise my car is in great shape when you feel the finish with your hand after waxing.

So they just touched it up with Honda Touch Up Silversone paint, let it dry and send/buff it? = $400?

that whole hood should have been done for that price, and correctly for that matter.
