Default Ap1 Tranny Problems?

Mkay, AP1 Tranny currently out of car and fluidless. Will row gears 1 - 5 and R just fine. 6th feels like it's blocked. The gate doesn't open. Think it's just the shift linkage... but I'll find out when I start inspecting (read: dismantle) soon.

Any other plausible scenarios as to why it won't shift to 6th would be nice so I know what to look for.

Further more supposing it's something much worse, is there any reason I can't drop 6th gear (or 5/6 gears) from an ap2 into this tranny from a good set of gears?

God bless America, and God bless you for reading all this.

adios

it usually happens to AP1 transmission that have been sitting, not used.

when i bought my first 01 AP1 with 15,000 miles.. i had the same problem.
i posted on s2ki and they told me drive it hard to fifth and slam into 6th.
it went right in!
