I believe you will need to swap your existing ap1 flange onto the ap2 diff, but dont quote me on that. I think that may be for the tranny swap though.

Alright so having done this a billion times (I need a new hobby) to swap diffs you need to swap the companion flange on the diff because the drive shaft bolts on the ap2 are bigger.

Sounds simple but it's not of you want to do it right. Can you just pull the but off and swap? Yes. But you're risking changing the Pinion depth and blowing the diff. Best advice I can give is either a) buy an ap1 diff b) buy and ap2 diff and have it reassembled correctly or c) just swap the flange and cross your fingers

@bradskee cool thanks! so let me break this down , if I go AP1 diff its a simple hitch and go . If I switch to the AP2 diff I have to rip off the flange from my AP1 diff and put it onto the AP2 diff , and hope that it wont blow again ? I would also need to get a new crush washer as well?

If you swap the flange and don't re-set the load on the pinion correctly and technically replace the crush sleeve the diff will fail again. Best bet is to grab yourself an AP1 diff or have someone professionally swap the flange, which would cost about the same as rebuilding your current diff.

Goodluck!
