I feel for you with the bad transaction, but I don't see how they can drop someones credit score based on something like this.

^^ Simple.... lets say u owe someone money... they sale your debt to an IC Collection agency... what they do is buy someone's debt and IC collection will try to get it back from the scammer... if they don't get the money back.. in your credit report you will see your score drop and it would show that you have carried a debt to the collection. It will continued to drop until the debt is paid.. PayPal normally used this method.

Which collection agency did you use?

I bought a bumper from Mouthzippers on here. Long story short I never got the bumper and he will not return my calls or emails. Unfortantely it was past the 30 days that paypal says you have to claim so there was no way to get my money back. Paypal told me to report him to the FBI for internet fraud (which I did) but I still can't get my money back. It was $550.

So Mouthzippers is a bad guy! DO NOT BUY FROM HIM.

I don;t see how the credit bureau can report any private sale on your credit report. I am throwing the flag.

You can file a claim with a collection agency anytime you are owed money. The documentation between them is more than sufficient to show a sale of goods, a return, and a lack of refund. Consumer protection laws are pretty strong in this country.

I believe he (buyer) actually sales his claim to the collection agency. At that point, the collection agency is the one owed the money and (buyer) no longer has a claim. The collection agency can obtain a judgment and/or report negative credit accordingly.

That is the point of using a collection agency, to save the expense of litigation and obtain something in return (he either gets a percentage of what he is owed up front or a percentage contingent on sellers payment). Public Corporations use them all the time. The collection agency is the one with the authority to report negative credit.
