Hmm that does sound like a low number, i think they're just playing it safe and not telling you the actual amount. PG amps tend to be a little under-rated as well. Are you buying your PG amp locally? If so the shop can take a peek at the birth-sheet to see the real tested ratings for the amp. then you can work out the math from there.
mgiang7:
The whole reason I decided to go straight to PG was the fact that the local dealer did not have the information. The local dealer only had the same information as the PG internet site had (basically nothing useful @ 2 ohms).
As far as buying locally, that was the original plan. But I started do more research, and found I could save about $100 on the PG amp and another $100 on the Alpine HU (9813) if I buy via the internet over the local sale price. I doubt that the local store would even attempt to match the internet prices. However, I may buy the speakers locally. Not sure about the "accessories" though.

just to reply to myself.
Mike, Have you thought about running on of the PG amps in Tri-Linear mode? Apparently all the new Tantrum amps allow simulataneous Stereo/Bridged operation. In theory this means a 2-Channel amp can power your speakers and Subs. In practice? I'll leave it to the smarty pants to comment on that

As an aside, I would have expected more power gain than a mere 50-100W @ 2ohm
you and me both...

the worst they can say is 'no.' or counter offer w/ something closer to your numbers... and remember -- cash in hand is hard for them to turn down.
and remember - most of the time when you buy online, you're dealing with potentially grey merchandise.
and to followup on the buy local thing.
if you buy from the same shop that installs it, they'll be flexible on price since they're getting all the work. some shops also charge more if you bring in your own stuff as opposed to buying from them, so all stuff to take into account when negotiating a price.
