Since I plan to do most of the install myself (it's my way of learning more about the car), I'm not too worried about making the local dealer feel "good".

I had the opposite experience. The 4ga power wire was easy and speaker wire to the doors was a pain. It was cold outside and I could not open the doors to full extension in the garage.
