Installed new(used JDM trans) in my AP1 and cant get it to shift into 3rd or 4th
Hi Guys,
So, I have an 01 S2000 with quite a few mods, I damaged the second gear in my original trans which had somewhere in the neighborhood of 140k miles and I was able to locate another AP1 trans and was told it was good and had low miles, so I figured sweet, easy swap and back on the road. I was told that I would want to reuse my shifter assembly on the JDM trans and all would be good to go. I put the thing back together and I just cannot get it to take 3rd or 4th gear. it goes into 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th just fine. Reverse however I think is acting differently now, excuse me as its been about a year since I've been able to drive my car so I don't remember, but when I select reverse, the shifter freely moves down and into gear, but then returns to the normal shifting plane. If I recall correctly, when in reverse the shifter stayed in the recessed plane, Correct? At this point I thought it was the reversed shifter thing.... well I've reinstalled the shifter about 15 times now and when I install it in the reverse direction, I cant shift at all, so I don't think that's it. Please help. I'm dying to drive the thing again and I'm really starting to lose hope and considering getting rid of it as it hurts me to just stare at her broken in the garage.
