For the record, s2ki.com maintained 99% uptime in 2004 and that included the downtime related to changing software. Compare these stats with that of your bank in 2004:

- 99% uptime (86 hours offline/8700 hours)
- Served 112+ million pages to 4+ million unique visitors, 3+ billion files served
- Didn't lose a single post
- Wasn't hacked once
- Was run by one guy with a notebook computer

That's my record, I'm happy with it.
My point exactly. I dont think most people on this board know what has to go into a venture such as this. And to get that worked up over smileys and avatars is retarded IMHO.

99% is outstanding

cthree, that is great.

Remember though, this is your BUSINESS. Your living, your livelyhood, correct?

I work for a telephone company, I know all about the 5 - 9's. (99.999)

Ya, $20 is cheap. Start giving the freeloaders less.............

Thanks, I have been rather harsh the last couple of "Site Info" posts.

FWIW, the "freeloaders" as you call them do get less, a lot less. Those red stars under your name mean that I try to offer reasonable response to whatever issues, questions or criticisms you might have. I realize that sounds like a pretty intangible commodity and it is.

As long as complaints and protest are reasonable they deserve a response. That takes time to do because I research and check what I say, could take as long as an hour to formulate a response to a specific post. When there is an especially high "drama quotent" going around (drama is cyclical from my experience, mass PMS?) I could easily spend 2 or 3 days doing nothing but posting responses to members. I think I spent about 16 hours in the past week responding to post and messages about the ads. Not what I want to be doing but it's part of the "cost of doing business" as it were. I don't respond kindly to threats or personal insults. I don't get paid enough to be anyone's bitch. I don't think that's unreasonable.

If you weren't a member then you would likely not be getting this response (or any of the previous ones either). I simply don't have time to spend doing that. As I said in another post this week...

I'm not sure saying it's my "business" is a fair or accurate characterization. Yes, it's how I derive some of my income but there is a lot more to it than that. If it were purely a business endevour then I really couldn't afford to do it. A business exists really for only one purpose and that is to earn a return on investment for shareholders. I knlow they all say otherwise but their mission statements and $5 will also buy me a double latte at Starbucks. Any business which has as it's primary goal offering service rather than making money is not a business but rather a charity. S2KI is somewhere in the middle there. Not a charity because I hope that my investments will offer some sort of return someday in some form but also not a business because we don't offer the services we do purely for financial gain. When I make a decision it's based on what I think is best for the community and in turn the members first and how I might profit from it second. I'm not a hero, if there is an opportunity to make a few bucks then I'll centainly look hard at it but in the end it comes down to a balance between what's good for me and whats good for the members. All the better if I can satisfy both.

Hey, I love this site, that's why I pay to be a member. Anything to help the cause. I do go though withdrawl without photos though. But, this is the best site of any kind on the Internet.

Glad to see my $20 helped solve the problem.

Now if we could just get an advance warning that our memership was going to expire. I had "full PMs" and couldn't send or receive, and had someone else point out that my membership had expired.

Anyway to get an email or something when the memebership is over or about to be over? I would have never know as I don't look at my profile.
