Library Content is migrating...
In March I am going to be migrating all of the content in the library (TSBs, FAQs, articles, etc) to a new forum section. The CMS software we use for this will be obsoleted. There are some significant advantages and a few disadvantages to this strategy but on the whole it's a positive change:
- Library contents are searched and show up in forums search results
- Common user interface for everything
- Easy to write and maintain, uses BBCode for formatting
- Easy exchange of information by copying posts and topics rather than rewriting them
- Only one software tool to maintain
The disadvantages center around the loss of richness of the content as it all needs to be formatted as BBcode (posts) rather than the richer HTML or XML encoding. Compared to the up-side I think this is pretty minor.
