either way...my title Community Organizer means nothing to me. Even if i didn't have the title, I'd still try to help my Community the best I can.
haha it's funny you mention that. I didn't want the title of a CO and obviously I would help if I were CO or not but after many, many, talks with other members, i decided to give in. Only for the fabled secret forum of course.

also, nyc metro has many people that organize and set up events, many untitled c-organizers in there.

Did your community choose you and you were not appointed this 'position' ? If you feel you should be a co, let it be known. Don't disguise it.

It is true. Except when there is no CO in a community they are put forward by the communities themselves. It's impossible for us to know who in a community would make a good leader of it so the members are the ones who choose who they want to lead.

We may remove a CO if they cause problems for the site or the community and we may veto a CO nomination if we feel they may cause problems for the site or community based on their activity, attitude or behaviour but we don't make the nominations. We don't even dictate how those nominations occur. That's up to the communities to decide. So long as we think there is some form of demonstrated consensus among the members and the candidate has not raised any red flags with us we will accept them.

It's unrealistic to think we would put someone in charge of a community who we feel will do a bad job of it or will harm s2ki or the community. COs are expected to offer support and some amount of loyalty to s2ki and to work with us to improve s2ki overall.

Ok but that's not s2ki's fault or doing. That is a purely internal affair and illustrates why we don't choose the COs for communities. It's something you guys need to hammer out for yourselves and when you've got a situation that works let us know so we can make it happen.

Selecting an effective CO is very important but most are chosen because they are popular rather than because they are competent and effective leaders (sound familiar?). If the CO isn't improving the community, representing the interests of the members or dealing with us the owners of s2ki effectively then you the members need to give them the boot and put someone in charge who will.

You guys are the investors in the community. If management isn't doing a good job you need to get rid of them before that investment is worthless and the community breaks down. On the other hand one person saying they have support of the membership doesn't make it true. You need to demonstrate that support. If a CO sucks and you want them removed then post a poll or a thread asking for support of that position.

Thank you for the insight Erick however there is really no need for that as things are relatively calm in new england and this would only drive a wedge between our community.

We all know the mod does very little if anything visible (maybe he does some stuff behind the scenes but his post count is non existent as is the fact that he never sets up any meets / gathering for the locals)

but we are a self-sufficient group. Again there was a time where I wanted it and pushed for everyone to join / support s2ki but now I am content to just help people any way I can. but again there was never an option of a "vote" for a co in our section

So create a vote.

Just not a coup.

it is possible to have a Site Mod who is also a Local CO, even if his name was not above your Community he's still have the same moderation power in the forum, and if no actual CO activities take place by that SM then I see no issue.

I was a Site Mod and CO at the same time, hell now I am Admin and CO too, but I have fellow CO's in our community too.

It can be done, just needs working out.

Wow, you were sure sold a bill of good there, eh!?

For an entertaining read you would have been much better off in SE.
