ok i was wrong that we are not a democracy but a dictatorship, well maybe there needs to be a change to see what everyone wants instead of the way things are going, put it up to a vote so that everyone can put their word in. Atleast i'm not the only member who thinks this way.
Talking about things may be a nice pastime but it doesn't make things happen. If you have a specific proposal to make then make it. If the membership tends to agree with you then, unless there is some really big objection I have to it, I'll put it on my todo list. If I do object I'll try my best to tell you why. If you are prepared to step forward and actually implement what you are proposing all the better because then it doesn't depend on my schedule and may get done quicker.

I don't need to hear from the entire membership to get the full picture. A sample is all that is required. I ask you remeber that I've been doing this for some time and while I'm still figuring things out I do have a bit of experience to draw from. I talk to members like yourself all day long. I don't talk to everyone all the time but I do talk to most of them at some point. I have a pretty good idea how Bass feels, and lig and the others from reading their posts for the past 5 years. I've now had the chance to dialog with you for a bit which also gives me some idea of where you are at, how you see things and I can prject from that how you will react to certain decisions I might make.

I don't need a vote on every issue everytime it comes up to know what the concensus will be. Sometimes I'm not sure so I ask. Sometimes I wrong and that helps me clarify my view and correct course. Having a board or body of some kind doesn't really change that. It just gives you someone else to yell at when things are the way to want them. I also use "I" to much, one of my many faults.

The word on this topic, which is the for sale forum in case it got lost, is what you see above. Most members think it's a good idea. You can canvas more opinion but I'm pretty confident that the sample you see here is statistically significant. Adding more comments is not going to sway the balance any, just add more of the same. I called this even before I mentioned it in the first place and I still think I was pretty bang on.

Even in a democracy (or should I say especially) you will never have a 100/0 vote result. There will always be one nazi, one pedophile, one priest, one single mom and you will never get them to agree on anything, ever. You even have those who disagree just because doesn't matter what the issue. So yup, even in a democracy somebody is going to be pissed off. My system is no different. There a lot of people out there wonder how the hell Bush got re-elected to a second term. They aren't happy about it but life is like that.

- where the heck were you guys when Trip had his issues??

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...pic=260823&hl=

i had to spend some time tracking him, his brother, and his parents down - boy to think if i had the info you had on him my job of helping a fellow member would have be much easier

next time it happens, i'll ask the buyer to contact you directly so that we can proceed more efficiently

good night

I didn't say I GET alot from this community...I said I GIVE, in the ways of knowledge and help to other guests and members...and I didn't say I'm starving either, the one guy put it the way I feel, paying for a membership on a car website is not a priority for me right now, I'd like to use my car and buy new things for it...the internet is just that, the internet.

If I had something that was $2000 that I was looking to sell then I probably would be a member but a black chrome front H and a Replica spoon snorkel both for under $35...uhh I'm not looking to sell them so I could pay for the membership, I'd like to get my gf a nicer b-day present in June...

I just love how you guys have to bag on me because I don't have the money right now for a membership...sure I could go to an ATM but when I do that I see the $20 as 4 chances to go to In-n-Out.

Anyway, this thread is already out of hand...I'm done here, I don't care what you guys think of me...
and BTW, I changed my user-name...I never liked this one anyway, if you want to "diss" me some more...I'm now Silver9k

Look at what you guys are saying.
Someone says: Its just $20 no big deal, don't be cheap, anyone can come up with $20.
Then at the same time, those people say: i like the idea. Now nonmembers cant scam us.
But i thought anyone can come up with $20

This move, on the forum's part, has nothing to do with loyalty, cleaning up, or even looking out for the forum users safety. There is no justifying it. Only "members" are saying that. It can only be about money.

I don't think anyone is trying to bag on you SLO/Silver. It is a question of priority and it's totally optional so whatever you think is important to you is ok with me. I'd like to keep this in perspective at least a little bit.

We are talking about the ability for a Guest (non-member) to post a new topic in the For Sale forum. Since the For Sale forum is only for posting items for sale that means Guests won't be able to sell things using the For Sale forum.

The motivation for this is to reduce fraud by only allowing those "known" to us to sell stuff. This include ripoffs, false advertising, bait and switch and selling stolen goods.

Guests can still read, search and reply to all topics in the For Sale forum, they just can't use the For Sale forum for selling stuff. If you have something you want to sell the you are welcome to do so by becoming a Member, putting an ad in the newspaper, posting it on eBay or any number of other ways.

I'd really like to keep this topic on-track if possible. If you feel there is a need for another discussion about membership in general or some other issue it should really be posted in a new topic.

I think this is a great idea. I don't think anyone has mentioned this but I see all too often owners who aren't actually owners selling stuff in the FS section. Heck there are multiple threads right now. Its not hard to snag a vin number from ebay or autotrader and become an owner.

This new rule would hopefully eliminate this problem.

I have no problem paying the extra $. In fact, i have been planning to become a Gold in a couple months so i can post pics(which is also free on every other forum) and save on Marketplace.
But its the principle. Its all about money. Charging people $20 wont change anything. I have been using E-bay for years and have been ripped off MANY times before, and even using Pay-Pal i have been scammed. And i know i am not the only one out there. Any ways the point is..
-Both places demand a charge for you to use their service.-

With Version 4 of S2Ki you don't need a VIN to be an owner.
