This has been annoying me for days
I had a look at the source code too..Although the homepage uses images from a different location, they appear to be the same size and the HTML constructed in the same way for the header_01 and header_03 images, but the middle section is done using "background-image:" CSS, but in slightly different ways on the two pages.
Could be the different way in which that element is constructed?? or more than likely the way in which IE handles it. If it is the latter then I guess it might be tricky to fix (i.e its buggy in IE) so replacing the "background-image" with a normal HTML <IMG SRC=> might be simpler as with the header_01 and header_03.
Of course, I don't really know what I'm on about so that could be a complete load of crap

It's a CSS error somewhere. The styles applied the same, I'm not sure what you mean by 'CSS, but in slightly different ways on the two pages' code looks the same to me, but I might be missing something. It's the CSS file that doesnt compensate for IE's shitty rendering engine.

What I was on about ref CSS error was that this
style='background-image:url("/forums/style_images/2/header/header_02.jpg")
