Thumbs up How does the reputation system work?

As title states. I see the whole stars rating system and the reputation listed on each profile. How does that work? Does the reputation go up by a certain amount of 5 star votes or what?

Also in all the threads there is an option to vote page up or down. When clicked it says not allowed or reach maximum amount of votes for the day. What is that feature for?
Thanks.

At the bottom right of each post is a +- thing. If you like a post, you click +, if you dislike a post you can click -. This counts toward the poster's reputation value. The profile rating thing is just a rating 0-5 of your profile. It doesn't really apply to much.

is the vote up/down for reputation not setup yet?

Any time I try to click one it gives me this message. Action failed: You have reached your quota of positive votes for the day

Also is there a reason I can't make a status update or view comments on other peoples status'? Nothing happens when I click to post it or click to view comments.

The configuration of new features as they relate to permissions, users, groups and so forth has not been fully rationalized by the admin team yet so some features may be a little out of whack, especially new ones. The admin team is working on a full audit of the configuration and should have everything setup properly by the end of the month. We don't know what many of the configuration switches even do yet, it;s a learning process for everyone and there are literally thousands of configuration settings. Stay tuned.

Is there anyway we can view where our reputation points came from?

I have a rating of 1 under mine, I'd just like to know where I got it, and any future ones I might get too (good or bad).

Rep voting is anonymous. If you have a positive rep then keep doing what you are doing and you should get more. If your rep is negative then it's a sign that you're annoying to others and, like posting drunken party pics on facebook, may come back to bite you someday, like when you need help or want to buy or sell something. There is no way to fix a bad reputation. You are going to reap what you sow on the forums. Act like an asshat and you'll get punished for it. We will not intervene in the rep system. It is entirely in the hands of the members.

no, no I know all that, I'm a major mod on Australias biggest Honda forums, but in their VB software you can click settings and see where you got that rep point from - ie which post / thread. I'm just curious where I got it from, not who

I can see the content I have liked, I'd just like to know if I can see where people liked mine, so to speak.
This forum software doesn't enable that?
