Also, as a question, just because you visit a profile does not mean you give a reputation score does it? Maybe only the guilty and paranoid think this

haha, i find this example quite funny since you took it from our local forum

a local CO complained about his rep. and magically it was +25. while other peoples rep which was earned was deleted back to 0

"using it as a hate system" are pretty strong words no?

^ I was being nice, not airing everyone's dirty laundry. In fact it was not the CO, but a member of your community who ended up with -25 in one day. Like I told you before I would cool your jets, as you do not know the whole story.

My recommendation, is to remove the 10 reps a day and limit it to only 3 or 4. We do not need one or two people making an impact on one persons reputation system.

Proves my point. The second we as admins/mods/whatever become involved in making everyone play nice it only makes it worse.

My official position is this:

Your reputation is your own problem.
It is determined by the members not the admins or moderators.
We don't care if it is a true reflection of your like-ability or not.
If someone conspired to trash it then you have our deepest sympathies.
We will not change your reputation score and we will not tell you how you got it.

I agree. The system only has value if it's allowed to stand on its own merits. We (admins/mods etc.) should not be trying to steer this but rather it should be solely driven by the community.

As with all new things, its value will be determined over time by those who use it.

I should also note that -25 is not a low score or shouldn't be for someone with 2000-20000 posts. The more members use it the more accurate it will become. I strongly encourage members to rep up good posts and rep down bad ones. More votes equals more data which equals a greater probability of accuracy.

not to mention if you could see who gave you a negative score you could simply go to their profile and give them a negative rep just because your bitter and want to be a dick
Still anonymous, but then you can at least know what thread resulted in what rep. I don't care either way, but I get what he's asking.
It is too early to tell if this matters or not so I'd rather do nothing and see what happens before tinkering with it. Besides, I've got way to much to do to change it anytime soon. It's not a configuration switch I can flip even if I wanted to.

actually, you would be surprised at how much of the situation i actually know. so thanks for trying to tell me to cool my "jets" the fact of the matter is questions were left unasnwered and the way it was handled was less then proper. including taking CO status away

the funny part is, you don't know the whole story. simply just 1 side.

I agree with chow-bot. I was also falsified and accused of reputation abuse. I confronted the individuals and told them and they respected my decisions for neg-repping. I am entitled to my opinion, take it with a grain of salt. However, until recent events I found out they went behind my back (as well as others) with accusations right to admin. It shouldn't be this way. Rep has been revoked and our only active CO has been repremanded his status.

I don't get it? We have voted to keep our ex-CO (who was revoked his status) and yet to receive any confirmation. He is the only CO that is active to set up meets and help out locals for the past half decade. He keeps our community in tact.

For what it's worth, I have also been threatened via text messaging and hate mail and HACKED for a simple 1-click, opinionated button (you said it yourself in Post #2 Cthree). As a supporter of s2ki, I demand our ex-CO to be put in place to monitor our section!!!

Read post above: We don't care about your reputation or how you got it. That was then, this is now.

Please return this heartbreaking tale of a man and his dog back to the local forum you stole it from
