I don't like the new site format;

1. Way too big; I can't view it even full screen on my 1024x768 notebook without scrolling.

2. lots and lots and lots of wasted space

3. much slower (takes 2-5 minutes to load each page over my cable modem)

4. boring

There are some apsects that I like, but overall the previous design was faster, easier to read, and let me concentrate on reading info instead of finding it.

Yes, it is now much uglier, less functional, and a hell of a lot slower, but we will adapt and move on with our lives

Also also like the avatars in each post as it helps me quickly locate posts, and I do not understand how this is saving bandwidth, since you only download the file once and then the browsers serves it from cache

 

So, does anyone know what problem we are trying to solve with the new layout? All that wasted space on the left is nasty. Change just for the sake of change is not necessarily a good thing.

That's good to know, and it sounds like a good plan. In the short term, I'd be happy if my 750 pixel wide window could view the entire site without having to keep scrolling to the left and back to the right.

 

Put me down as another member who prefer the old look over the new layout. After looking at this new format for a day now, my comments are:

- Put the color back. The gray color gets lost and it is harder to see which threads have new posts.

- Get rid of the wasted space on the left.

- It is still slow for me.

- The home page still has more red "X" than real content.

- So how is the PPD figure computed? I prefer the old "total posts" count better.
