I hate the new s2ki page format!
S2KI staff et al,
Please don't misunderstand, we are not taking pot shots at the new site. It is an excellent piece of work and you should be congratulated. There are some technical issues debugging issues such as netscape compatability but this is PHP code that writes simple html and it should work everywhere, netscape is actually a good way to error check code as it is intolerant of non-compliant code. The site as written (even the splash page) can not be viewed in 800x600 without using a horizontal scroll bar (of which one does not appear in the splash page), and the need to use a horizontal scroll bar is a royal pain in the ass. I understand that the "staff" has made a decision to design the site based on 1024 x 768 but don't expect everybody to be happy about it.
We are not complaining because we hate the site, we are complainging because we love the site, and we love the car and we are spoiled by the previous version.
While we all would have loved to help beta test, many of us did not that was on option, nor am I a big fan of beta site debugging. Everybody loves the glory and hates the hard and time consuming work. Beta testing sucks if all you get to do is find errors, If you use them you have to accept their comments as well and many have valuable opinions if you know how to take criticism constructively. Color can obviously be experimented with and hopefully you have a global template or include file for colors.
Remember, all of the criticism is constructive, after all these are not Ford owners posting comments, they are S2000 owners (which I beleive is why they are here in the first place).
If there is something we do not like we will try to be specific.
Keep up the good work and don't give up the ship.
Cheers

Let me 2nd tbalon's statement; definately not any attacks here and I welcome forward progress on the site. These comments are offered as contructive criticism.
1. Please reconsider the 1024 decision, as even on a 1024 screen this site is now much harder to use (ie, requires horizontal scrolling), plus I refuse to designate my entire screen to the browser, meaning I'm running at about 750 pixels max.
2. There is another downside to the 1024 decision (or an upside to 750 width, depending on your view): printing. A simple 10 line PM now takes 4 (that is _four_) pages to print!!! The old site printed fairly large messages on one page. This means that in order to print anything I have to copy the text (and that isn't always easy with HTML) and then launch a text editing application, past it in and then print.
3. why the large amount of white space at the top of the pages? (slightly annoying, but mainly just curious).
The new layout definately has had an effect on how often I visit the site; I'm finding that I no longer want to browse forums, I just reply to PM and important threads I've already subscribed to, although I did go looking for this thread (I knew it would exist).

Guys,
let me be one to thank you for all the efforts you have put forth....I am so glad to have a resource as complete and community as diverse/informed as I have found on this site...and I also understand the desire for change and the need for advancement
as a "hobbyist" web developer myself, I can't imagine the juggernaut of a task to change out a site with this large of a following and try to please everyone as much as possible..
one thing I noticed that suddenly left was the "PM Buddies" option on the MyS2000 page, now I have to PM individually on my buddy list for things like events and notices in our club...is that going to make a comeback or has the syntax changed where I can just put everyone's names in the To: field?
The members list is no longer functional (at least for the Arizona owners club) it shows an error on page load
also I must agree with others on the left frame issue..it does have its usefulness, but does take up useful space when the messages trail down to the end of that frame (wasted space on the screen). If you could somehow place this frame to coincide with the Starting post and then let the other posts below it fill the entire page, you might help the space issue vs. placing these options as a second navigation bar below the one on the header....just some thoughts..
finally, I miss having all forums on one page - Forums/Clubs..I was so used being able to just pass through quickly, scroll down the entire page just looking at the forums I routinely visit and seeing if new posts have been made (including our club link) and then moving on to something else if nothing new is posted...now I have to go to 2 separate pages to do the same thing (just 1 more step making my visit a little less efficient)....but if things are to change like cthree has noted I can definitely get used to it!!
thanks again for the massive effort, and I look forward to all the new options that are coming soon!!

Has everyone clocked the fact also that you don't have to use the arrow and wait for the whole cycle of the border appearing and disappearing? You can in fact operate in full width all the time and access a little pop up menu instead, just by clicking on the word Menu' (Just over the top of the red arrow) You can close the menu that appears by clicking the cross in the top left hand corner. It's actually very quick!
Also .. If you choose to go to another forum from that little menu box, leaving it open, it closes automatically. You can return very quickly using the browser 'Back' button.. All never leaving full width mode!!
Oh $hit!!... I'm really starting to like it!
