Hi,

I want to bring everyone up to date regarding the handling of VIN numbers. As of immediately, VIN numbers are stored in such a way that there is no way to know what a registered owners VIN is. There is now no link, direct or indirect, between VIN and owner. The only question that can be answered now is "does 'vin' belong to a registered owner of this community, yes or no?". So if you don't mind someone that has your VIN number knowing if you are a member or not (but never which member) then you should not fear entering your VIN to register as an owner.

This new functionality is a result of member feedback and suggestions. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Okay, okay. I registered. I have given up (at least temporarily) my paranoid delusions re privacy on the net. This is my first official post as an owner

cthree,

Good move; now there's no excuse for owner's not registering as owner's.

Doesn't bother me since the function was made available since day one.

OK fine but why do you make us enter a social security and credit card number?
