Default Paying S2Ki Subs by PayPal

I recently paid my S2Ki subs using Paypal, but noticed that it actually set up a 'recurring payment' with Petersen Ventures LLC indefinately. In effect I had authorised a standing order from PayPal without knowing it. I have now 'cancelled the profile' as I don't like the idea of money being taken automatically without authorisation.

Maybe I ticked the wrong box but if you're like me you may want to check your PayPal account history.

looks like that is the standard way of setting up payments. I have canceled the reoccuring part of the subscription too.

Same here. It seems the recurring payment is automatic as there was no option not to when I paid. I don't agree with it and am pretty miffed

Makes you wonder how many people will end up paying for the rest of their lives without realising

You should post this up in the Site info forum as I bet loads of people will not know about this.

I see you've moved my thread to the site info section, not sure many UK people will see it here - I didn't know this existed as it was outside of the S2KUK area!!!!

The recurring payment is for S2KI membership - moved it to site info because it concerns S2KI as a whole, not just the UK

I had to "cancel the profile" in order for that not to be a recurring payment. I can see the argument of "convenience" standpoint, but that's might not sit well with alot of s2ki'rs. Especially those of us that live check to check. Just my .02

you guys should get together with the guys who bitched about having to manually renew your memberships every year, figure out what you want. I also suggest paying attention, it's not complicated unless you click buttons without reading any of it. I can't tell you what you won't read.

OK I see your point about manually renewing, but I for one would like it to have been made clear that I was approving a recurring payment. You say it was there to be read but I didn't see it and I'm normally pretty careful about these things. Perhaps it could be made a little more obvious? It doesn't look like I'm alone in this either

I've also seen a few posts from members that as a result won't be renewing next year. Perhaps that in itself tells you the change could have been communicated a bit better or made slightly more obvious. I think the sentiments conveyed in your post above are somewhat harsh and aren't going to help in keeping those members that feel agrieved. Unless you are trying to alienate us that is
