Please don't troll (posting efficiency)
I have been reading this board since it started, and h-a.net before that. I've noticed that in recent months, especially with lots of new members, there is a lot of wasted bandwidth and completely useless replies to posts.
Some of us (actually I would speculate most) on here are not retired, or can only read the board during breaks or lunch at work. During this time, we are hoping to get useful information about the S2000 and issues surrounding it.
More and more, I have to wade through "junk" posts just to get to the real meat. Some of the worst offenders are those with the 1000+ post count. It seems like you are just posting junk to increase your post count. Fortunately the subjects are usually very consise and directed; it's the sea of unrelated follow ups that are very annoying.
Not to single anyone out, but as an example there is a post titled "s2000online or s2kca members by location." I for one am interested in geographical demographics, perhaps plotted on a density map or table by region. Why do I care if lvs2k has grandparents in Ireland or grandmother in Germany? In the post titled "Attack of the HID lights," S2K fan states "I've seen other cars do this too." No sh*t we all have.
I understand a little joking is normal and keeps the culture and spirit of the group, but people please temper the one phrase or one line reply with no useful information at all...
Thanks!!

What I think is more of a bandwidth hog and problem are all the graphics people include in their posts and sigs. These are pretty much worthless; no offense but your Red S2K looks quite similar to mine. If it's on a slow server then my system has to resolve that server, go get the graphic from that server, and do this 20 times on a long thread. This slows things down significantly. Quite often I just hit the Stop button which seems to tell our Bulletin Board s/w to continue the post but skip the graphics. It's pretty wasteful, much more so than extra posts which are essentially just text (unless they include those cute little graphics).
Yeah, most repeat graphics are useless. I DO want to see your cool whatever-it-is ONCE, not in every signature. But Rasputin, as far as editing content, seems to me you're bucking for a moderator job. At least we're not stuffed full-o-spam like some usenet groups.
We are also a social group and random nonsense among us is expected. Maybe you want an intense to-the-point set of rules on this site but I wouldn't hang out here if we tried that.

I don't think you can regulate this and quite frankly I don't think it is worth trying. One man's worthless post is another man's interesting comment. It's a dynamic within any large group of people and you have to take what you perceive as the good and the bad.
