Default shouldn't the ignore button hide threads

When I decide I want to ignore posts by a user, why do the threads they started still appear? Shouldn't the whole thread be removed from my view? Is there a setting I'm missing?

No, only that person's posts won't show for you. However, you can still see their posts if someone else quotes them.

It only hides the content of their posts but like xviper said if they are quoted you'll see what was quoted in others posts.

If I ignore someone, is that reported to the mods so they can see if a particular user is being substantially ignored?

The Admins can see how many people have an individual on ignore, and if there are a lot of people ignoring a specific user, that can be flagged to them.

As to who has who on ignore - I am sure there is someway cthree can see that in the database, not that he has the time or inclination to find that out, without any good reason for doing so.

The thing is - people do not often 'substantially' ignore people - they like to see the drama

Thanks for the info. I only have 1 person on my ignore list, and they don't post much (at least not where I post). Just curious if it had any effect outside my little world...
